The members of the Al Mahdi community came together to commemorate Fatmiyah on March 23rd 2015. Being the first major Islamic event of the calendar year, the occasion was used to provide a progress update of Al Mahdi Islamic Community Centre project.
Children from the Darul Quran also made an emotional presentation highlighting the significance of the future centre to them as youth of the community. In addition, a
video themed ‘imagine’ was shown to the packed audience to reinforce the multifunctional and generational impact of the Islamic Community Centre upon completion. The President of the Al Mahdi Centre, Br.Ahsan Butt provided inspiring words and direction to the attendees, while the Fundraising Committee appealed for financially support towards the cause. With just over $1.1 million in the bank and pledges of over $0.6 million, the immediate goal is to raise $1.9 million to commence building construction in 2016 Inshallah. Phase I of this community driven project is expected to cost $5.5 million.
